Danny Glover Joins Food Service Workers to Demand Change
On January 29, more than 250 people including cafeteria workers, local faith and community leaders, actor/activist Danny Glover, and farmworker organizer Dolores Huerta called on companies in the Silicon Valley, CA, to adopt a Responsible Contractor Code of Conduct to ensure that the rights of food service workers are respected.

A diverse coalition that includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Catholic bishops, community leaders, as well as UNITE HERE and SEIU, launched an attempt this week to push a comprehensive overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws. The Alliance for Immigration Reform 2007 includes UNITE HERE, SEIU, the National Council of La Raza, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the US Conference of Bishops, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Restaurant Association. Leaders of the group believe that the plan stands a good chance in the newly Democratic Congress to legalize millions of undocumented workers in the United States.
